Funeral Casket Flowers
The loss of a loved one is easily one of life’s greatest challenges. As a family member or friend who is close to the bereaved, it’s only natural to want to offer your love, support and deepest condolences during this time of great sadness.
The tradition of adorning the casket with fresh flowers, called a casket spray or cover, is typically selected by the closest family members or friends of the deceased.
Every casket spray we create is made fresh to order using only the highest quality buds and blooms.
When you order casket funeral flowers from Flowers For Everyone, our talented and compassionate florists will create a memorable funeral arrangement that honours the life of the departed.

Do I send flowers to the funeral home, graveside ceremony or to someone's home?
Sending flowers to the home of the bereaved, funeral home or graveside will depend on the nature of your relationship to the deceased and their family. If you wanted to provide a more heartfelt and intimate gesture, then sending a bouquet or arrangement to the family home is a beautiful way to express your condolences.
Or if you feel it is more appropriate to send flowers to the funeral home or graveside ceremony, then a smaller sympathy arrangement or posy is recommended. Flowers for the casket or standing sprays are usually selected by the immediate family of the deceased.
What flowers are traditionally used for funerals?
Just as each flower type differs in its shape, size and appearance, so too do the message they convey. Knowing a flower’s unique meaning can help you express your exact sentiments through a beautiful floral arrangement. However, it’s important to be mindful that flower meanings and funeral flower etiquette can differ between certain cultures and religions. If you are unsure what to send, call our Customer Care team on 1300 664 333.
The most requested funeral flowers and their special meaning are:
- Lilies: Lilies, in addition to their beauty, represent the restored innocence of the soul of the departed.
White carnations: White carnations are known to represent pure love and innocence, while red carnations convey admiration; and pink carnations are a symbol of remembrance. - Chrysanthemums: Chrysanthemums are often used to honour someone who has lived a fulfilled life.
- Roses: Depending on the colour; roses carry multiple different meanings. White is reflective of innocence, reverence and youthfulness; red convey love and respect; pink signifies grace and gentility; yellow expresses friendship, while crimson roses symbolise grief and sorrow.
- Orchids: Phalaenopsis pink and white orchids are used to represent eternal love and express sympathy.
