Up Close & Personal with Ryan Primrose

The face behind the flowers - Ryan Primrose. Ryan grew up living and breathing gardening and flowers. “I spent years as a child growing up at my grandparents farm in Kellyville and would always help them with the gardens and growing veggies and flowers. I Just love the earth and connection from the land.”

With his background, it's no wonder Ryan has created a flower empire. His passion for floristry first began when helping his mother after school in her florist before moving into couriering flowers for a large florist chain for many years, he then stepped out and bought the first Flowers For Everyone store in Macquarie Centre in 1999.

To Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Flowers For Everyone, we put the man himself in the hot seat to answer a few questions!

If you were not in the florist business, what would you be doing?
Pilot

What is your favourite flower right now?
That's a hard one to pick only one type! Glorisa lily & hydrangeas are my current top picks

What do you enjoy most about your job?
The rush and buzz of working in a florist, this business is very fast paced! As well as seeing the end results, from the flower blooming on the farm to the finished bouquet delivered to the customer. Plus the people I get to work with everyday!

Which flower has your favourite scent?
My two all time favourite scents would have to be Mr Lincoln roses or Double Delight roses

Do people think your last name is fake?
Yes! I get asked all the time “did you change your name?”

Favourite movie of all time?
The Matrix

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Would have to be lamb cutlets & a good home grown salad

What are your hobbies outside of Flowers For Everyone?
Gardening, horse riding & soon to be kayaking

What’s the typical day of a florist like? What time do you start in the morning?
3:30am start for the warehouse and market, 6:30am pick and pack store flowers. Next up is funeral flowers to be out by 7:00am and delivered. We then begin to start online orders for the day and set up all stores. There are certainly no short days in this business, with the final task of planning for the next day and market lists around 7.30pm.

How many species of flowers can you name?
That’s too hard! I could be here forever with that question!

Is there a flower that you DO NOT like?
Nope

Two decades in business calls for a special 20th birthday bouquet to celebrate the fresh blooms, talent and love of flowers we pride ourselves on.

Our anniversary ‘Glorious Gratitude’ bouquet comes straight from the heart. It impresses with atomic orange Roses and Big Mumma Chrysanthemums offset by shimmery silver Guava foliage. Green Brezelia, brown Magnolia foliage and lemon Stock turn this stunning creation into a breath-taking piece of art fit for the momentous occasions.
