Consider Pollen and Perfume: Although oriental lilies, stock and hyacinth may be a favourite at home, their strong perfume could become a little overpowering in the confines of a hospital room when one is recovering from an illness.
Additionally, pollen may cause allergies with some people. If you are unsure whether the patient may be sensitive to pollens and perfumed flowers, play it safe with bouquets containing seasonal blooms such as roses, tulips, hydrangea, snapdragons, iris, chrysanthemum, gerbera daisies, orchids and other tropicals. Asiatic lilies can be okay, as long as the stamens are pulled out of the flowers as the buds open. We always recommend sending flowers arranged in reusable ceramic pots, vases and self-watering gift boxes for ease of placement in a patient`s hospital room upon delivery.
